08/30 Molly Update

We’re happy to announce, that after a long road and some very hard work by her vet & foster mom, Molly is now available for adoption! The mange that Molly was suffering from is, as previously reported, cured. Molly has been very receptive to foster mom Lydia’s training. She knows how to walk nicely on the leash, is polite to dogs she comes into contact with and has settled into life in the big city. Molly also now gets to go to work on occasion! Not only does she love the extra attention but she gets to show off what a good girl she is turning out to be :)

Molly, like many dogs, does suffer from seasonal contact allergies. So this time of year is tricky for her. Because of the pollen, grass and other allergens outside and in the air, she can get a bit itchy. Lucky, always a sweet girl, she lets her foster mom wipe her down after walks and administer her allergy medication.

Molly is ready for the perfect forever home, one that will continue to give her the amazing care that she’s received in her time with us. As long as her food and contact allergies are tended to, she’s a very happy & grateful Shiba! If your looking for a very loving & affectionate girl who will bond with your family- she’s it!

08/19 Emmie Update

Our sweet girl Emmie has now been placed into a new foster home. Our Intake Director, Michele, has taken Emmie into her pack to work with her on socialization skills. Emmie doesn’t really know how to ’speak’ dog. Currently, upon coming into contact with other dogs on walks, she is not able to communicate the anxiety she feels around them. Her outlet now is to bark at them and sometimes acts as she will attack- she has fear aggression. Our goal is to work with her until she gets to the point where she is not nervous or scared around other dogs. In time she will learn how to behave with them and maybe even learn to enjoy their company! Luckily, Emmie is both smart and loyal to humans. Her intelligence and willingness to please will surely make her a great & successful student. We’ll have more updates on her progress soon!

Yay! Molly has left the hospital after a month of wonderful treatment and she looks FANTASTIC! She’s been transported to her very own foster home & is loving every second of it! We’re happy to report that her Sarcoptic Mange has been successfully treated & the fur on her ears, legs and around her eyes is now growing back beautifully. Also, her ear infections are all cleared up. After gaining a little more weight and one last skin treatment, Molly will be available for adoption.

Foster mom Lydia reports, ‘Molly has endless energy…plus she LOVES the ball…She is very sweet and will take endless affection. She loves to be petted and rubbed and is always up for playing. As for the crate, she goes right into it happily if you just tap the top of it…She loves people on the street and so far has been good -saying a quick, polite ‘hi‘ to passing dogs…her skin and fur look good. She comes, sits and lies down on command. She is not at all bothered by strangers in the house and is good with children. She is very, very cute and everyone who meets her loves her!’

08/08 Ginger Update

The lovely Ginger is healing nicely from her spay. Her foster mom says she’s back in the swing of things and acting like her old self after a couple days of taking it easy. Her stitches will be out later this week and therefore she’ll be ready to be adopted! Ginger also is now up to date on all her vaccinations. We’ll have more photos and info about Ginger soon!

Introducing Popeye

Popeye was surrendered by his owners because their new baby is allergic. He is 4 years old and is wonderful with small children. Popeye shows no signs of aggression even around food or toys. Popeye is neutered, up to date with all of his shots, and is in overall good health. He was an only pet, so can become nervous around other dogs.

I had Popeye stay with me and my three dogs for a weekend to see first hand how he would react with other dogs. He was a little nervous, aloof, and growled every so often, but showed no signs of aggression. Because other dogs can make him nervous, Popeye would be best in a home with a mature dog or a home with no other pets.
