NYCSR participated in our first Adoption Festival today! It was draining for us and for Molly (the only foster dog we took with us), but it was well worth it. We talked to a LOT of people about homeless dogs, breed-specific rescue, Shiba Inu rescue, fostering, adopting, volunteering, etc. We got several new adoption applications and volunteer applications also. We hope attend a lot more of these events in the future.

We had to buy a tent, which we hope will last us for many events to come. Stay tuned for pictures of future events as we add more “pizazz” to our little rescue tent.
This is the description of the event from the Mayor’s Alliance website:
Mayor’s Alliance/Maddie’s Pet Adoption Festivals are held on a regular basis on weekends in New York City parks throughout the five boroughs. These events are designed to raise public awareness of the problem of unwanted pets and to encourage those who can adopt to make a homeless pet part of their household. In addition to adoptable animals, each event features a steel drum band, low-cost microchipping ($25) for dogs and cats, and Ask the Veterinarian, Ask the Trainer, Ask the Groomer, and Ask The TTouch Practitioner booths.
If you’re in NYC and interested in attending an event, you can get more information on the Mayor’s Alliance website.

Congratulations! Sounds like this event was very successful for you. Love your banner and logo, too! I know how much you love the Shiba breed, and just know what a wonderful “job” you are doing. Way to go!
