Sunny update October

in Sunny

From the time Sunny came in to foster care until now, he has lost about 20lbs and is down to 46 lbs. Sunny’s coat looks great and he had his teeth cleaned and was neutered. He is recovering from the surgery nicely. He is still in pain and sits down more often then usual, but his energy is back and he is the happy puppy he was before!

He gets very excited around new people and when his foster parents come home from work. Sunny has become a much happier dog since being with them. He has more energy, is more athletic, and smells a lot better☺. His tail now wags on a fairly constant basis which was never the case, and he is much more playful. Sunny is very friendly with other dogs on walks, not playful, but friendly. Sunny loves everyone. His foster family is convinced that if someone was to break into the house, he would greet them with his tail wagging. Sunny is also great with children.

Sunny has become vocal – he now barks if he hears people outside the apartment making noise. He has tough to walk, he pulls a lot, but his fosters have been working with him on it. It’s a nice departure from where he was a few weeks ago when he couldn’t make it around the block. He sleeps either in a recliner or in a little doggy bed that his foster family bought him.

Nothing really bothers Sunny except for the oven. He is absolutely terrified of it. When it is on, Sunny visibly shakes and gets as far away as possible. Beyond that, nothing really phases him.

Sunny is a big fan of tennis balls. He has great energy now, and runs around in the courtyard. Overall, Sunny is a very wonderful Shiba. His fosters love having him around.

Wow! Sunny looks incredible. Losing weight makes such a difference and I bet he’s really enjoying life more now too.

the oven phobia is more like a smoke alarm phobia. In the past he equates the oven with the smoke alarm.

Put some new toys infront of the oven off, then introduce them when the oven is on.
