Toby has been having a great time with his foster dad. Last week his foster dad told us that Toby is still awesome. He now has an infatuation with pigeons; they are the only thing he barks at. Sparrows do nothing for him – only pigeons. There are also a couple of stray black cats in the park by my apartment, and he always glances over to see if they are out and available to be chased a bit.
Toby is also doing better with meeting new people. He sniffs their hands and legs in a friendly manner and doesn’t mind when his foster dad has friends over. He just relaxes after he’s inspected each of them to make sure they are “cool.”
John told us that Toby gets incredibly excited when he comes home and will do a little dance and make a strange gurgling sound. It almost seems like he’s about to howl, but it just comes out as a weird gurgle. It’s cute and also odd.
For some odd reason when children see Toby they want to pet him or play with him but they greet him by barking at him. This makes Toby nervous and he stands behind John unsure of what the children might do. Sometimes John lets them pet him, but sometimes if a child is coming at him with too much wild energy, John will tell the child to not come near him.
John also told us:
Toby is also excellent about not begging. His version of begging is sitting there with his head on my lap. If he needs something or I am not paying enough attention to him, he will paw or headbutt me. Usually paw. He’s gotten into the trash a few times, so I bought one with a lid, and that has stopped that behavior.
Toby is a great dog who is still shy but very very happy and loves being with John.

I cannot believe this beautiful boy hasn’t been adopted yet!
But I’m glad he has a wonderful foster home until that forever home comes along!
I’m so psyched to see that Toby is getting adopted!!!
