RUby is a 3 yr old spayed female. She is friendly towards men, women and children but she has some dominance issues with other dogs and sometimes people. With proper introductions and training she can learn to curb this behavior. Her foster mom told us that Ruby’s first few days were stressful on the dog but she is adjusting to the new house. When Ruby was corrected from an unwanted behavior she got a little snappy and acted like she should be in charge. Her foster mom is working with her to break that habit, and also help Ruby to relax and be ok in a new environment. Ruby overall is very good with people, it seems most of her problems are really with other dogs. Ruby can be mouthy when her paws are touched, and can play too rough and be a little too aggressive. She also has shown some possessive tendencies with toys and other things of value. Ruby has a dominant personality and is slowly learning that she is not in charge.
In the time she’s been with her foster mom, she has relaxed some and has shown her more affectionate side a little more each day. Kristin told us that Ruby likes to sit next to her and will nuzzle her hand with her nose asking to be pet. She’s also very good with small children and meeting new people, she sniffs them and wags her tail. She likes to play and is an active dog. Kristin has described her as a sweet dog, who can be very affectionate, and likes to be included in household activities and is always curious to see what’s going on.
Ruby’s former owners had to give her up because they could no longer dedicate the time needed to take care of her. She is up-to-date on her vaccines and has been micro-chipped. We’re not sure if they knew this but Kristin told us that Ruby knows how to open the refrigerator and tries to grab a snack without anyone noticing. Ruby also sometimes jumps into the bathtub, although we’re not entirely sure why, maybe she likes baths.
