Pixie has maintained her weight at 20 lbs. She shed her winter coat and has a shiny spring coat now. She still seems a bit allergic to dust (consequently herself). But nothing too terrible. She was spayed, had her teeth cleaned and was microchipped. She is recovering nicely and is pretty much back to her old self now.
She’s very calm and gentle. She’s increasingly displaying a more playful side where she likes to be chased (indoors and out). She’s very food motivated and takes to training techniques well, so long as treats are readily provided. Treats are offered during training time. I also provide a couple first thing in the morning to get her in line and ready to go for her morning walk. And a few treats when I first get home from work as part of our play time. Mostly she seems at ease and enjoys going out for walks and laying on her own or near her person.
Overall, Pixie is doing very well and seems to be even more playful since she’s been spayed. Yay, Pixie!!

Is pixie still available for adoption? I’ve just faxed an application and I think she would be a great fit into our family.
Hi Nicole,
Pixie’s foster is planning on adopting her, but we will keep your application on file in case the adoption doesn’t go through. We are always looking for foster homes as well, if you’d be interested in fostering-to-adopt a Shiba, please fill out the foster application as well. We have a few Shiba’s on the waiting list to come into foster care and we would match you up with one that best suits your household.
