Mr. Squeakers has been in his foster home for 4 months and his foster mom told us that he’s doing great! Chase who is now Quincy has been doing great in his new home. His family let us know that he’s a graduate of obedience school and has learned basic commands and recall. He also now waits at the doorway instead of bolting. His family is considering going for his Canine Good Citizen test [continue reading...]

Casper recently went to the vet and his foster family told us he was great. Nothing bothered him, including a German Shepard in the waiting room who wanted to meet him, Casper held his own, didn’t cower, didn’t strike out – just stood quietly until the shepherd’s owner got control of the dog. Luna’s foster mom, June, told us that since Luna has started medication for Cushing Disease, that Luna has improved. She is more alert, active, and has begun crate training.

Toby came to NYC Shiba Rescue (NYCSR) in November of 2007 and was about 4 years old at the time. He had level 1 heartworm disease and had been in a municipal animal shelter in southern NJ after being surrendered by his owner. Toby adjusted fairly well with his first foster family. Pixie is doing wonderfully now that her kidney problems have cleared up. It seems she may have ingested some sort of ibuprofen, and now shows no signs of problems. She will be scheduled to get spayed very soon and once she heals from that, she will be available for adoption.

When he went to their house he had a bottle of medication for Lyme Disease and has not shown any outward signs in the last few weeks.
