Say hi to Lucy Rose! She’s about 22lbs, and up to date on vaccinations. We’re not sure how old she is and she is going to get a checkup at the vet very soon. Lucy Rose came to us because her former owners were unable to help her gain the confidence needed to be a good canine citizen. Lucy has a tendency to nip at people when she first meets them in what our foster family, Steve and Michele, have noted to be a fear response. It’s as if she’s saying, “Leave me alone! Who are you?!”
Once Lucy gets to know you, she is very sweet and doesn’t destroy or chew anything. She can be trusted alone and out of a crate. She is crate-trained and in the few days that she’s been with her foster family, she’s become very affectionate. Lucy is also living with Michele and Steve’s other dogs and so far, so good. There has been some posturing but no aggression. Everyone is well-behaved and if anything, it seems Lucy is a little nervous of the other dogs. She will sniff them and go nose to nose but also seems uneasy.
Lucy knows a few commands such as sit, no, come when called, and give paw. She also walks well on a leash. She occasionally screams at the other dogs if she doesn’t want to be near them. She loves her plushy toys with the squeakers inside. She is so funny throwing them around and playing with them. She doesn’t play with the rope toy at all, and she doesn’t seem to like to chew on the bone we gave her. She likes when I hide little treats in different places in her folded blanket. She searches the whole blanket until she finds every last treat. She gets walked 3 or 4 times a day and she plays in the back yard too. She does have a lot of energy. I also play with her in the living room with her toys. She likes to run around and flip the toys in the air and she rolls into me when I sit on the floor with her and likes her belly rubbed.
Lucy would be good in a home with no young children and a calm home that doesn’t have a lot of visitors. Lucy is very sweet and very well behaved.
Here’s a few pics too.
