Update on Lucy Rose

in Lucy Rose

Lucy is all healed from her surgery. The oncologist believes the cancer won’t come back, although there is always a slim chance. She prescribed an anti-inflammatory for Lucy to take for 6 months. This will help fight off any cancer inflammation that may pop up.

Lucy has become more playful and she is very comfortable with her foster siblings (all 4 of them). She has become more tolerant of strangers petting her, it just depends on how they approach her. We take her to the dog park and she gets along with everyone and has a lot of fun running around.

At home, Lucy loves to play with squeaky toys the best. She has a blast running to fetch them and then tossing them around and bringing them back to be thrown again. She loves to be snuggled and have her belly rubbed.

Initially, Lucy showed some food aggression towards our other dogs, but we’ve trained that out of her, and now she behaves during feeding time and when getting treats.

Lucy would do well in a home with another dog and even a cat. We took her to my parents house and she didn’t pay any attention to my parents 4 cats. She just looked at them and walked away. As long as the cat is dog-savvy, Lucy should be fine with them. I still don’t believe she would be good with small children, but if she and the child are trained properly, there is always hope of a peaceful co-existence.

Lucy was such a sweetie at the meetup today. She seemed to do pretty well with that little girl that came. It kind of suprised me because I’ve been following her progress. Are you sure she’s 100 percent Shiba though? She was way too sweet and affectionate! Dawn also commented on how much she’s come along.

Thank you! We believe she’s come a long way as well. Over the past month she’s really shown her personality and become very spunky. She’s also been more open to strangers petting her, although occasionally she will snap to warn not to touch her, but that has been happening few and far between. The new girl we’re fostering is very sweet and playful and Lucy loves to play with her as well. It’s fun watching 6 Shiba’s run around the back yard playing. :)
