Miyuki is a 3 yr old shiba inu who was found in Long Island and was in the local town shelter. She’s extremely friendly and gave our evaluator her belly and loved the attention! We believe she had a home given her overall sweet disposition.
Miyuki is being fostered by Michele and her family and so far so good! She’s friendly with the other dogs in the house, the people she’s met, and affectionate. Michele told us that Miyuki is playful and if you just look over her she starts to wag her tail. Miyuki loves meeting new people, knows a few commands, and doesn’t seem to have a very big prey drive. She met a cat and was curious but did not want to chase it.
Miyuki doesn’t seem to enjoy going on walks. She much prefers being in the back yard with Michele’s dogs and doing the shiba 500, zooming around as fast as they can. She frequently will sit down during a walk and refuse to move. She sleeps wherever she wants to in the living room, she usually goes in her crate into the dog bed, or sleeps under the sofa bed. She loves plushy toys with squeakers. Not too keen on rope toys and tennis balls. She really loves to play with other dogs the most.
Miyuki has a lot of energy and would need an owner who could take her to a dog park on a regular basis or perhaps have a nice backyard where she can run around and play. She’s not keen on walks, but with patience and time she could get used to it.
Michele told us that Miyuki would be best in a suburban environment where there’s a yard and maybe have another dog in the house to play with and run around. Miyuki is just basically a very well-adjusted sweet girl. She is not your typical Shiba. She is very affectionate and has a ton of love to give.

And check out the video of Miyuki playing – note the super fluffy tail wagging!!
