Lucy is doing very well. There has been no sign of her cancer returning. She continues to take some medication to help prevent it from returning. Lucy is due in October for her vaccinations and blood work. She has not lost or gained any weight and her coat continues to be very soft and plush.
It took Lucy a while in the beginning to really show her true personality. Over the past month or so she’s really come out of her shell and has become a furball of love. She can be needy at times and tries to force her way between me and the other dogs if she wants more attention. She can be very domineering and vocal about it. She’s not much of a barker, but more of a whiner when she wants something.
Lucy is very smart and a fast learner. She tends to be a little aggressive around the other dogs at feeding time, but listens with a stern “no” or “eh-eh”. She loves to play with toys and run around the yard with the other dogs. She also loves to snuggle up in bed at night between Steve and me.
Lucy also has fun when we bring them all to the dog park. She’s learned to trust strangers and has gotten better at letting them pet her. She still is a little leary with some people, I haven’t been able to figure out her reasons as to why she likes some people and not others. Maybe it’s just their body language.
As much as we love her and feel she is part of our family, we believe Lucy would do better in a home with less dogs so that she could receive the attention she so desires. Don’t get me wrong, I give all of my dogs tons of attention, but Lucy forces us to give her more than I can give my guys.
