August Update for Remington!

Remington has truly grown up to be a big boy. At 13 months, Remi is tall for a Shiba standing about 19.5″ at his withers and weighs 34.5 pounds.

Over the past year, Remi has had his share of health issues, but he never let them stop him. He has been diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus, but has responded well to the medicine. He will need to be on it for the rest of his life, but he doesn’t seem to mind.

Remi also went for his 1 year cardiologist appointment and was given a clean bill of health. He still does have the hole in his heart, but it has not gotten any larger. A thorough examination of his heart shows it to be strong and healthy. The doctor expects Remi to live a normal life without restriction. At this time he still does not need medication and hopefully never will. He will need to get ongoing echocardiograms as he goes through his life cycles with the next one not for another 2 years – when he becomes a teenager. Remi is now ready to become a permanent member of his foster family.

  1. Wow, I remember when we was first introduced on this site! A hole in his heart didn’t stop him from growing to be so big! I’m glad NYCSR was able to help him heal and go on to have a family.
