Nicky’s March Update

Nicky is healing from her spay very nicely. She’s still wearing her e-collar to prevent her from biting and nibbling her belly and the spay area. Her foster mom, Esther, told us that Nicky has started showing some new behaviors and a few new shiba sounds, grunts, etc.

She is doing well and has periods of excitement and then sleepy moments. When they are out on walks, Nicky still does not like meeting other dogs and will growl at them. When she meets another person walking a dog she gets very uneasy and will try to scare them. She also shows anxiety towards meeting strangers.

Nicky adjusts well to changes for an older dog and listens well when she is asked to sit, stay, and walks well on a leash. She is shy with new people. When she finds her furever home, her new owners will need to know that she will need slow introductions to their friends and others. If new people ignore her and she can approach them on her own she’s calmer and will relax.
