Sparkle for the Shibas

At NYCSR, we are so happy to be a part of getting Shibas into foster care, getting them the medical attention they need and, finally, the forever homes they deserve. We love our dogs and what we do, even though it can be extremely stressful when we are in debt due to large veterinary bills. We continue to take in as many Shibas as we can find foster homes for, and they all seem to cost much more than we recoup in adoption donations. Extra funds seem to be needed all the time. Even after generous veterinary discounts and donations, we are still working to chip away at our debt. To that end, we invite you to join us in the NYCSR Sparkle for the Shibas Grid Pool Fundraiser.

For a small donation of $15, you can reserve a box in our grid pool. A random drawing will be held on Sunday, August 24th for three winners. Each winner will have their choice of $250 worth of Touchtone Crystal by Swarovski Jewelry. (If you win you can keep the jewelry, use it as a gift, or even donate it back to the rescue. We will save it for use as a raffle prize in a future fund raiser!)

Here is how it works…

1. Go to this page to reserve as many boxes as you like. The Pool Password is “nycsr”. The cost of each box a tax-deductible donation of $15. The more boxes you have, the more chances to win!

2. Once you have chosen your boxes, click here to make your $15 per box tax-deductible donation. Please put your box numbers in the comments.

That’s it!

Boxes will only be available through August 16, so choose quickly.

Where Do All Those Vet Bills Come From?

You may remember Mojo, our diabetic foster boy. We just couldn’t give up on this very special boy who had gone from being sweet and playful to sad, in pain, and withdrawn. It took lots of medical care, several hospital stays, multiple ER visits, lots of love, and people rooting for him, but today he’s a very healthy pup that has his Mojo back in full force! Minus the couple of insulin shots he needs a day, he’s your typical Shiba boy.

Here he was back in February- so thin and feeling pretty miserable all the time.

Now look at him this past Monday at the beach! He’s back to a healthy weight – he’s loving life again and having lots of fun.

Without the love and dedication of his foster parents and the support of our wonderful volunteers and supporters, he almost certainly would not have made it. We are thankful!

You may also know sweet Sable. She came to us via NYC AC&C after being found as a stray in Brooklyn. She had possibly been hit by a car and had broken bones and torn ligaments.

Sable has undergone multiple doctor visits, x-rays, casts, dressings and sometimes painful exams to check on the healing progress. All the while, she’s been a sweetheart, so trusting of the vets and her fosters. She’s gone from a sad, confused pup in the shelter…

… to a very content & confident little girl thriving and healing in her very own foster home!

Sable is still progressing and will continue to need medical attention as she heals. She’s getting stronger every day. Her road to recovery is a long but steady one.

Success stories like Mojo and Sable – and so many more – are why we continue to do what we do. Please consider helping us help Shibas buy buying a chance (or a few chances) to win some jewelry.

Please note: (1) Any boxes that do not have corresponding donations by midnight on August 16th shall be forfeited and made available through August 23rd. (2) Any prizes not redeemed by 6PM August 30th will be forfeited. (3) If a winner wishes to select more than $250 worth of jewelry, they may do so and pay the difference over the $250 prize amount.
