Our lovebirds, Red and Roxy
Red and Roxy are the canine version of a mature married couple, and as a ‘bonded pair’, they show obvious distress whenever they are separated. However, bonded dogs often adjust well to new environments if they have each other. While it’s easy for this pair to warm up to people, Red does not always accept four legged companions (although he is fine greeting other dogs on walks) and Roxy seems to prefer the male Shibas in her foster home, and and tries to boss around the female. Could it be that they just don’t like the competition? Ahhhh…l’amour!
These sweet seniors are surprisingly energetic and playful. At 12 they love their daytime naps, but are very engaging otherwise. Red really wants to be someone’s football watching buddy and is getting down to a healthy weight now that he’s eating the right food. They both love leash walks and are great cuddlers. As an active couple they sometimes scare their foster mom by taking running gravity defying leaps up the back steps so there is no assisted living in their future! Red and Roxy are perfect for anyone who would rather not go through the Shiba puppy stage and would like a pair of dogs that will regularly entertain one another and their human companions. This healthy, happy couple has lots of love to give.
