Introducing Cream Boy (Name Pending)

Cream Boy Shiba InuCream Boy came from a kill shelter in NJ yesterday. He came into the shelter as a stray, so we don’t know his history. They’d adopted him out once but he was returned immediately, supposedly because he wasn’t housebroken. No one else had shown any interest in him and time was running short. We were lucky enough to pull him an put him into foster care. He’s a real sweetheart!

He apparently didn’t get much much exercise or walks at all. His muscle tone isn’t great and his back legs are thin plus his pads are very soft - like a puppy’s. He has lots of energy and is very sweet and kissy. Foster mom will be working on helping him gain a little weight (he’s only 21 pounds now) and work on his muscle tone on walks. She says he’s a good boy and will work on getting him and her two dogs to be friends. He was initially very barky with her dogs but she’s not concerned and is happy to work on it and keep them separated in her house in the meantime.

We’ll have more updates on him soon!

  1. Nami is doing really well in my home. He now gets along well with my Shiba - Shabu, they play together all the time. I’m still working on him getting along with my mix dog - Bosco. Last night we had all three of them upstairs together with Bosco on a leash just in case. Everything went well. Nami is such a sweet lovey dog and loves to be held and pet. Both shibas sleep in bed cuddled up with me all night long.

  2. Nami is such a handsome boy! I’m hoping to meet him and introduce my 2 Shibas to him. He sounds like he has a wonderful personality. I have a king sized bed so there’s plenty of room for all 3!

Do you have an estimate of Nami’s age? Does Nami (the name) have a specific meaning?

  4. The paperwork from the shelter says he’s 4-6 years old. Nami means wave. He’s like the white crest of a wave. He actually escaped out my front door today and we had to chase him down in the car until he was tired of running and my boyfriend was able to snatch him up. He had me so scared he was going to get hit by a car. I’m so glad he’s ok, and safe back at my home.

  5. I put a video up on my website of my Shiba, Shabu and Nami playing together. Please excuse my house, we were in the middle of putting down new flooring. Enjoy!

  6. Typical Shiba! We have a huge fenced yard that allows our Shibas to run freely while remaining safely confined.

He is such a handsome boy. You have done a wonderful job getting him back in shape. What a lucky boy he is!

I wasn’t able to access your video but I will keep trying. How is he getting along with Bosco?

  7. I just watched the video. TOO CUTE!!!! Shabu looks like she has the same personality as my female and Nami has the same as my male. My male can play catch with himself almost all day while my female insists on you throwing the ball for hours on end.

Nami looks so healthy from the first picture posted. He is absolutely beautiful!

  8. I also have a fenced in yard, unfortunately Nami got out the front door when we were putting in a new living room window. We almost stopped him, but he squirmed his way out of reach and took off. I started bawling when we finally got him back, I was so emotional.

We still keep Bosco on a leash when we have them all together just in case. Bosco wants to play with Nami, but Nami keeps snapping at her. I guess he doesn’t remember how she took him down a week ago. Nami is learning to play better with Shabu as well, I call them my twins. Shabu keeps flipping the rope toy at Nami to get him to play, but Nami doesn’t understand what to do. He’s learning. I try and get him to watch Bosco and Shabu playing together so he’ll learn. I’ll take more video soon and let you know when it’s up on my site.
