Shayna was surrendered by her owner because she didn’t like sharing her home with puppies. (Her owner had other dogs that had puppies recently.) Shayna was apparently very unhappy and needed a place to live where she felt more comfortable. She’s definitely comfortable living with me!
Snickers and I are enjoying having our first NYCSR foster dog at home. We’re taking Shayna for her vet check soon and promise to let you know as soon as she’s available for adoption.
Shayna is very friendly. She actually LOVES people and the attention she gets from them. She gets along fine with other dogs also (but not puppies).

When will Shayna be up for adoption?
That has yet to be determined since we’ve only had her a few days.
We keep all of our foster dogs for a MINIMUM of two weeks, so that we can properly evaluate them and determine what the appropriate adoptive home for them would look like. We also have them vet checked and take care of any medical, training, and/or socialization issues that need attention before adoption.
Shayna is beautiful - she sounds just like our Shiba, Keiko, who we adopted 1.5 yrs. ago. We would love to give a great home to a wonderful girl like Shayna. Are there any updates as to when she will be up for adoption? Thanks!
Hi Jenna, I have spoken with you regarding fostering a dog.
I have seen Shayna on this website for some time now and she seems like the type of dog I would love to have on a permanent basis.
She would be allowed to sleep under the covers - (my cat sleeps on the pillow next to me).
I do have a bird - but she does not fly and he is quite large. She is a Blue and Gold Macaw.
Would she be a good fit?
Hi Jenna-
We just had to put our 13-year-old Shiba down last Saturday. Though we are heartbroken we are anxious to adopt another Shiba. We live on 60 acres about an hour from NYC in NJ. What is the next step in the adoption process for Shayna or any other dog from NYC Shiba Rescue?

Hi Jenna
I have seen Shayna on here for some time now. I have a home with another Shiba who is a year old. And also a Mini Aussie who is about a year old too. I think we could use a new adition to the family. I have experience with dealing with Shibas ad would love to take her in! How much is the adoption fee? and what should i do next to proceed?
How big is she in terms of lbs? When is she up for adoption?
If you view Shayna’s main page (http://nycshibarescue.org/foster_dogs/shayna/) you’ll see that she is available for adoption now. There is a couple going through the process of meeting her though and they may decide this weekend to adopt her. Stay tuned and see.
Jenna - If the couple does not take her, we would love to meet her as soon as possible. You have already reviewed my application
Hi Jenna,
I am probably too late… But, just in case, we would love to welcome Shayna into our family. We have no other animals in the house.
I had two shiba inus many several yrs ago when I was single living my parents. Now, I am married with one child (9 1/2 yrs old), my husband works from home and I work 7 minutes from my house. We own a house.
Hi Jenna. I live in a house in Bayside, NY (Queens) and am interested in adopting Shayna. I’m an avid runner and would love to have a running buddy during my longs runs. However, I have 2 cats, both boys and a little over a year old, and was wondering if Shayna gets along well with cats.
