Courtesy Listings for Area Owners
The following dogs are listed as a courtesy and are not in the care of NYC Shiba Rescue. If you are interested in adopting a courtesy listed dog please follow the instructions in each listing for contacting the current owner or caretaker. All negotiations regarding the adoption will be carried out privately between you and the current owner/caretaker.
Since we cannot guarantee any listed Shiba, prospective owners are encouraged to obtain as much information as possible before adoption to determine if a particular dog is the right match for your particular circumstances and environment. Listing caretakers are also encouraged to gather as much information as possible regarding potential forever homes and are encouraged to use this generic adoption application to aid in that process.
![]() Samson Age: 1 yr Sex: Male Color: Red & White Vaccines: Due April 2010 Samson loves people and has completed some obedience classes where he did very well. He’s very responsive to commands (sit, stay, down, wait) and knows some tricks (roll over, shake, dance, etc). He’s in great health and has a lot of energy. Samson needs a new home because his current owner works long hours and isn’t able to give him the exercise and time he needs. Samson is fully housetrained, microchipped and crate trained. He is good with children that he has met. His owners believes he would do well in a home with older children. With other dogs Samson plays best one on one. Dog parks intimidate him and he can be growly and resource guard toys or items of high worth. He should be the only dog in the house and be supervised during play with other dogs. Samson has never met cats but he may want to chase them. Samson has many shiba traits. Anyone who is interested in him should be familiar with the breed. If you are interested in adopting Samson, please contact Tracey at tvitale13@yahoo.com. |
ChesterAge: 4.5 yrs Sex: Male Color: Sesame Vaccines: Up to date Chester is a friendly, affectionate dog who needs a new home. Currently, he’s living in a city and he does not seem to like the noise, hustle, and overall pace. He’d be much more relaxed in a suburban area. Chester can be a little shyt upon first meeting you, but will quickly warm up to you. He is hesitant meeting new people and needs to be approached calmly so he is not frightened. He knows basic commands and loves to play outside in a backyard or quiet area. His current owner has a house outside of the city and says that Chester bounds around with more confidence, plays more, and is relaxed. In the city, Chester is tense, panics, and is very nervous. UshiAge: 4 yrs Sex: Female Color: Tan and White Ushi is a fun loving, active, and friendly dog. She’s good with adults and likes having visitors in her house. Outside of the home she can be a little weary of meeting new people. She is looking for a new home because she’s not getting along with the small child in the house and doesn’t understand how to read children’s body language. This has resulted in some aggression and biting. It is best for Ushi to not be placed in a home with children. She also has some guarding and possession issues that would require behavior modification and patience from her new owner. Overall though, she is a fun dog and likes to play and explore. Ushi is on medication for an incontinence problem and it is working out fine. If she were in a home without other dogs and children and got plenty of exercise and play time, she’d be a wonderful dog! If you’re interested in adopting Ushi please contact Ralph at: rwloos@charter.net |

Age: 6 yrs old Sex: Sp. Female Color: Black and Tan w/ some white Lily is a beautiful 6 yr old female who needs a new home because she does not seem to understand the body language of the small child in the house. Lily lives with 2 cats currently and chases them, it would be best if she was the only pet in the house. She has a lot of energy, likes to play with balls and go for long walks. Lily is very good with adults but when children come over, she tends to bark at them and does not tolerate their energy very well. It would be best if Lily was placed with a family that had no children or older children. Lily also seems to prefer men over women in terms of who she bonds with. She is housebroken, knows some basic commands, and needs someone who is dog-experienced and understands the shiba personality. If you are interested in adopting Lily, please contact Teresa at: 860-482-3930 or tbrinaldi@optonline.net |
