The following listings are dogs from other rescues who are looking for great homes.
Roscoe Roscoe Poor Roscoe was left by his owners at 11 1/2 years of age at the local shelter because he started suffering from incontinence problems. Unfortunately it appears that he was never brought to the doctor before surrendering him to see if he could be treated. There are so many options available for this problem that its a shame that poor Roscoe would be forced into a shelter. Typical to the breed, Roscoe is cautiously friendly. This could also be attributed to the fact that after over 11 years of only knowing one home he has found himself at a shelter with a bunch of new people and sounds that he is not familiar with. So far, Roscoe seems to be good with adults and older children (teenagers). He only gets along with SOME dogs, and tends to guard toys and food around other dogs. At Roscoe’s age it may be best that he remains an only dog. Roscoe is NOT good with cats or other small animals and does not like going to the vet. Outside of the potentially treatable incontinence issues, Roscoe seems to be generally in good health. |
Dallas Dallas Here’s Dallas, a 2 1/2 year old Cream Male who was surrendered to the Montgomery County Humane Society because his owners are moving. Dallas is a friendly boy with all people, including children. He is playful with other dogs but has never been around cats or other small animals. It seems that Dallas has not had a lot of structure in his life and because of that he has previously chewed on things that aren’t his, he tends to jump up on people to say hello, and has been known to steal things off counters. All of these behaviors should be easy to address with a little obedience training and structure. Dallas appears to be up to date on his vaccines, but is a bit underweight at only at 18 pounds. He did come to the shelter with a skin rash/hair loss, but skin scraping shows no serious problems. This is most likely caused by an allergy – either seasonal or possibly food related. He is currently being treated and within no time should regain all of the hair he lost. If you are interested in giving Dallas a home, please contact the Rescue Desk at Montgomery County Humane Society (M, Wed, Thurs, Fri from 10-6 or Sat, Sun from 12-5) at 240-271-0656 or rescueprogram@mchumane.org |
Artie Artie A volunteer for a shelter organization in Northern NJ who has recently lost their facility reached out to NYCSR to courtesy list Artie. Artie is one of several dogs have been staying at a local kennel after the shelter lost their facility, but that option is shortly coming to a close. Artie can be very selective with the dogs that he likes and does have one misdirected bite on his record which occurred during a group training session when his handler got in the middle of a squabble between Artie and another dog. He is very very sweet with people, and he is able to be walked with a border collie mix and a German Shepherd being cared for at the kennel with no issues at all. However, there are other dogs that he has made it quite clear he does not like and because of this should probably be an only dog. Artie is such a sweet dog that loves to give hugs and kisses, takes treats nicely, is learning to walk on a leash well, and needs someone without other dogs in their home to give him a chance. If you can help Artie please contact Helena (anytime day or night) at 973-651-1197 or e-mail at Jamjac29@aol.com |
