Lucy is doing very well. There has been no sign of her cancer returning. She continues to take some medication to help prevent it from returning. Bella’s allergies have been the most under control they’ve ever been since her foster family has had her in their care. Chopstix, also known as Choppy is wonderful! Her coat is thinner than most Shibas probably because of the Beagle mix. Lucy is all healed from her surgery. The oncologist believes the cancer won’t come back, although there is always a slim chance. She prescribed an anti-inflammatory for Lucy to take for 6 months. Bella had a major allergy attack when she began shedding, during which she scratched or bit off wide swathes of fur. Her skin became infected due to her scratching and biting. Our sweet Lucy Rose had to have a mastectomy last week. The doctor also removed her lymph nodes as a precautionary measure. The biopsy showed that the tumor was cancerous. Pixie is doing wonderfully now that her kidney problems have cleared up. It seems she may have ingested some sort of ibuprofen, and now shows no signs of problems. A few weeks ago, Bella had an upset stomach leading to diarrhea and vomiting. The vet prescribed antibiotics and fluid injections, which resolved the problems. Pixie has maintained her weight at 20 lbs. She shed her winter coat and has a shiny spring coat now. She still seems a bit allergic to dust (consequently herself). But nothing too terrible. Ginge’s ear infection seems to have completely cleared up.
