Introducing Cinnamon

Look at that face! This beautiful boy is Cinnamon. He is 9 years old, up to date on his vaccinations, leashed trained, does well in the crate, and is housebroken.

He was surrendered by his owners as they could no longer take care of him. Cinnamon a very sweet boy that would do best in a quiet suburban home with a family that had experience with the breed. Cinnamon has had limited experience outside the home/area he grew up in.
He can be shy, quiet and independent, as many shibas are. He also loves being outdoors and running in the backyard. He will come to his humans to get a nice pet, scratch, or even a brushing!

So far he seems quite friendly with other dogs who are also quiet and calm. He also does well with a pet bird in the home. He is very well behaved when home alone, occupying himself and never being destructive. He is curious of new people in the home and looks to his human family to be assured that the person is ‘ok’.

Cinnamon has been taught several commands such as Sit, Stay, Come (working on that one), Wait, Off and No. He loves a snack or treat and will certainly work for one.

He is currently on Thyroid Medication which can be administered without incident. We have recently done bloodwork on him and are awaiting the results. Upon medical clearance we will have him neutered.

Cinnamon was such a gentleman during his transport. I was so impressed with how quiet and well behaved he was in the car. He let me pet him and give him a treat. If you are looking for a wonderful adult Shiba, Cinnamon is a love.

Check back soon for more updates on him!

When will he be available for adoption?

  3. Hi Jennifer
Thanks so much for your post! Cinn is a beautiful boy! He will be available for adoption after he is neutered.

    Are you thinking of adoption?

If so, our adoption process starts when an adoption application is submitted. (An application can be downloaded from http://nycshibarescue.org/adopting-a-shiba/ ) Applications are reviewed in chronological order based on date received. Depending on the initial review, we check references and conduct a home visit. After the home visit, if we have a dog that you are interested in and we think is a good match, then we set up a time/place for you to meet the dog. All of our dogs are in foster care in private homes, so appointments to meet them have to be arranged in advance. Following the meeting, there is a 24 hour waiting period during which all parties decide if the adoption should move forward.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

    Best,
    Zennia

  4. Zennia - I responded to your email but just want to make sure you get it - my application was reviewed and a home visit would be next to conduct.
Literally 1 hour before i got the message from nycShiba, I received a call that a Shiba Inu had come into a rescue near Philadelphia and we are driving there on Friday to see if we are all compatible. Therefore, I’d like to wait to get back to anyone about the home visit for Cinnamon or any other matchable Shibas after we get back from Philadelphia.
    Thanks again!! Love those Shibas!
